The first snow of the first snowstorm of the season.
Salt Flats in May, Utah.
After attending the Payson Utah temple with my daughter yesterday, I pulled over and took a series of photos and later created this. It's a blend of 5 exposures with post-processing done in Photomatix Pro 5, Adobe Lightroom, and Adobe Photoshop CC. The star trails are from one of the exposures (60 seconds). Someday I may re-process using a frame without star trails to see how that looks. The light rays shining up from the temple reminded me of this quotation, which I've always loved, but seems to grow in significance for me over time: "If you have seen one of the temples at night, fully lighted, you know what an impressive sight that can be. The house of the Lord, bathed in light, standing out in the darkness, becomes symbolic of the power and the inspiration of the gospel of Jesus Christ standing as a beacon in a world that sinks ever further into spiritual darkness." - Boyd K. Packer, "The Holy Temple"
