"What we need 'is not short, frenzied outbursts of emotion, but the tranquil and steady dedication of a lifetime'" - "The Dedication of a Lifetime", Elder Dallin H. Oaks, quoting Adlai E. Stevenson

Almost 3000 years ago, King Solomon began his dedication of the temple in Israel with these words, "Lord God of Israel, there is no God like thee, in heaven above, or on earth beneath, who keepest covenant and mercy with thy servants that walk before thee with all their heart" - 1 Kings 8:23. Almost exactly 180 years ago, in 1836, Joseph Smith used similar language when dedicating the Kirtland Temple (see D&C 109:1). This Sunday, the new Provo City Center temple will be dedicated and will immediately be put to work for the salvation of God's children.
