Almost 3000 years ago, King Solomon began his dedication of the temple in Israel with these words, "Lord God of Israel, there is no God like thee, in heaven above, or on earth beneath, who keepest covenant and mercy with thy servants that walk before thee with all their heart" - 1 Kings 8:23. Almost exactly 180 years ago, in 1836, Joseph Smith used similar language when dedicating the Kirtland Temple (see D&C 109:1). This Sunday, the new Provo City Center temple will be dedicated and will immediately be put to work for the salvation of God's children.
The vibrant green of prairie grass and wild sunflowers contrasts with the otherworldly eroded landscape of South Dakota's badlands. Very different, but both beautiful.
These tiny flowers (about 1 cm wide each) were blooming at 200 ft below sea level in Death Valley National Park in California. Tiny flowers at the lowest place in the United States - far from a lofty platform, but they made me smile anyway.
