“Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction and to keep himself unspotted from the world.” (James 1:27).
My wife’s maternal grandfather passed to the other side yesterday. He was an example of true religion to me. I believe that his lifetime of down-to-earth goodness, generosity and love will be of more worth in the eyes of God than all of the empty prayers and promises of the religious zealot and casual Christian alike. We must do more than give “lip-service” to our religion. We must live it. I honor this exemplary man for his goodness and love.
