I'm experimenting with astrophotography and this one didn't turn out...but I made it into an abstract I liked. The 20 minute exposure you're looking at contains a combination of star trails, camera noise, and an over-exposed night sky. :)
The ending of the color on the trees and the color in the sky signals the onset of cold in the high mountains. Mt. Nebo (Utah) shows off a dusting of mid-October snow. I was at about 9000 feet when I took this photo and it was 28 degrees F. Brrrr!
As I drive through the western United States, I'm always impressed with how much unoccupied space there is. Sometimes this world can feel crowded, but there really is quite a bit of empty land on this earth.
